| Other Info | Professor Kelly and the G-Force is a Bozeman, Montana based trio consisting of Hammond B-3 Organ, Harmonica and Drums, serving up old school Blues and Soul, Southern style. On the Hammond B-3 is George "the Professor" Kelly. Hailing out of Helena, Arkansas, Prof. Kelly grew up in the Mississippi Delta lands, where the Blues was born, and has lived and breathed the Blues his entire life. In his hands (and feet), the B-3 comes to life, growling and swelling to intense proportions, while his singing delivers the soul that only a lifetime of living the blues can produce. Professor Kelly's influences include Organ greats Jimmy Smith, Groove Holmes, Lonnie Smith, and Jack McDuff, to name just a few. Drummer Mike "the G-Force" Gillan has been playing the drums for as long as he can remember, thumping on the skins in whatever style of music that suits him, not the least of which has been the Blues. The G-Force has been a fixture on the Montana music scene since 1976, playing in many of the most popular and successful bands around, as well as being an in demand studio session drummer and percussionist. Having spent his childhood in the San Francisco Bay area, G-Force cut his teeth on such Bay Area legends as Tower of Power, Sly and the Family Stone, and Santana, among many others. Master Harmonica player Dr. Buff Brown's Blues nerve was first struck at the ripe age of 11 upon hearing Ray Charles sing "What I Say", followed by the Butterfield Blues Band's version of "Got My Mojo Workin' ". He hasn't been the same since. After 35 years of blowing harp and singing in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states, the good doctor stumbled into Livingston, Montana, and into the hands of Professor Kelly and The G-Force. Admission is FREE, and seats are limited. |
