THE NEWS: It's been confirmed that long time Gibson Master Luthier and friend of Music Villa, Ren Ferguson has retired from Gibson acoustic.
Ferguson joined Gibson in 1986 when the company acquired Flatiron Mandolin, where he was head luthier. For the last quarter-century, he has spearheaded building and design for Gibson Acoustic in Bozeman, Montana.
“I will always be a Gibsonite at heart,” Ferguson said. “These guitars are a part of who I am. The tradition of decorative art that are a hallmark of Gibson fits perfectly with my interests in engraving and carving.”
ONE OF A KIND REN FURGESON GUITAR
Ren has crafted an amazing guitar called "The Archangle" and he refers to it as "the best guitar of my career". This guitar was made for independent singer/songwriter Stephanie Quayle some years ago as an inspirational gift.
THE ARCHANGEL
One of only two guitars ever made under the Ferguson name is now for sale and available for viewing at Music Villa in Bozeman, Montana. (see the photos here).
This one of a kind piece of guitar history has a 1 oz gold Angel coin inlayed in the neck and 2 -1/10th oz gold angels on the bridge, custom inlaid pick guard. The back of the neck features a hand sculpted Arch Angel Michael slaying the dragon with a 24 Kt Gold Spear and Tip. The word "Arch Angel" is inlayed in the neck in beautiful abalone with the touch of Ren's master workmanship. The head stock is elaborately placed abalone and a 24 Kt Gold spear on the fret board.

This guitar was made for independent singer/songwriter Stephanie Quayle to represent strength and endurance, "slaying the dragon". Stephanie is slaying her "musical" dragon by starting her own label and with the sale of this one of a kind guitar will enable her the means to start the process.
