Doc & the Villa:

Doc Wiley is an engineer, producer, studio designer, studio manager, and overall bad-ass. Doc is a good friend of Music Villa, and we are very privileged to have him every Saturday for a free Home Grown Recording Camp/Workshop. Anybody who has attended one of these workshops knows what an asset he is to the community. He truly has a gift for music and has the credentials to back it up.

This Saturday (June 12th) Doc will be starting fresh with his Recording Camp at Music Villa. Back to the basics. His last session went about 4 months, and covered everything from simple studio set-up, software installation, and basic recording, to over-dubbing, plug-ins, mixing, editing, and mastering. Doc covers just about everything you could ever want to know about home recording. And he presents it in a way that’s relatable. He draws from real life situations. You can expect a very interactive, hands-on, organic approach to the art of recording. The camp will take place every Saturday at Music Villa from 11am-1:30pm. And in the words of Doc; “Come in, get your learn on, and enjoy the rest of your day. Nuff said.”

Doc’s worked with:

Doc applies the same approach to tracking rock rhythm sections as he does to getting quality vocal performances from the best voices in the business. He did so with U2, Prince, Ricky Martin, and Christina Aguilera while at Joe Galdo’s legendary South Beach Studios in Miami before building his first studio, DigiNote. Since moving on in 2003, Doc often now collaborates with producer Kevin “She’kspere” Briggs (Destiny’s Child, TLC, Pink, Backstreet Boys) in their recording and coaching of some great vocal talents, as well, including one of the greatest voices of all—Whitney Houston.
