First introduced in 1962, the 2018 Dove is a "new-old" model. For the last decade or so the Dove has only been available by custom order, but for 2018 Gibson is bringing it back as a standard production model.
The Dove is easily one of the most recognizable guitars in the Gibson line, with it's iconic "dove" pickguard and trapezoid inlays.
The Gibson Dove has essentially stayed the same since 1962. Built with solid flame maple back and sides, spruce top, and the historic details including the bridge and previously mentioned Dove pickguard. To make sure this guitar is ready for the stage, Gibson equipped it with an L.R. Baggs VTC pickup system.
The Dove has a boomy full-bodied tone with great projection and roundness. It is a combination of looks and tone that make the Gibson Dove an instrument for any genre. This is obvious by simply looking at artists who play a Dove, including Emmylou Harris, Alex Lifeson (Rush) and Rich Robinson (The Black Crowes), just to name a few.
In a limited run for 2018, Gibson is also releasing a Dove finished in a stunning white with black pickguard. These guitars are limited to only 100 worldwide.
