The New 2018, Martin 00-28 Acoustic Guitar
With new revisions for 2018, the Martin 00-28
is a small bodied, Grand Concert sized guitar that is now taking art and perfecting it with the science of guitar making. For 2018 Martin decided to reimagine the Standard series.
Chris Martin (CEO) describes it like this; "I challenged my coworkers to help me with the significant task of modernizing guitars whose origins go back to the 1930s (and earlier).”
The woods used to build the 2018 00-28 are ones you know and love. A Sitka Spruce top married with an East Indian Rosewood back and sides. The neck is constructed of Mahogany and an Ebony fretboard tops it off.
What sets the 2018 models apart is the modified low oval neck shape with a high-performance taper. This neck is super comfortable to play. Many agree that this neck is the nicest that Martin has ever put on a guitar and makes the 2018 00-28 easy to play all night long.
To add to the comfort, the traditional 00 body shape is a smaller body that is easy to play sitting down or live at a gig. Many players prefer a smaller 00 size guitar as it still has enough size to create that amazing Martin tone while allowing for easy playing.
The Bottom Line:
The 00-28 is a classic guitar that Martin has reimagined to create a better playing guitar for the modern player. This 14 fret monster is perfect if you want a guitar that can easily go from stage to living room and you prefer a guitar with a little more bass response.
It is also worth looking at the new Standard series if you have tried a Martin in the past but could not fall in love with the neck. The new High Performance Neck is something special and is worth a second look.
