If you are looking for a powerhouse guitar with a unique aesthetic look, the Taylor 516ce may be the exact instrument for you.
The first thing you will notice about the 516ce is the Florentine cutaway. A Florentine cutaway comes to a sharp point creating a "horn". This creates a more dramatic look to the cutaway when compare to a rounded cutaway. This type of cutaway is more labor intensive and is only available on a limited number of guitars.
The back and sides of the Taylor 516ce are constructed of Tropical Mahogany. This tonewood creates a full, articulate and balanced tone. Many believe it is this tone profile that makes mahogany an all-around champion of tonewood.
To pair with the Tropical Mahogany, Taylor uses Lutz Spruce for the top. Lutz is a natural hybrid of Sitka and White Spruce that has a similar tonal characteristic of Adirondack Spruce, providing rich power and volume.
As with all Taylor "e" Guitars, the Expression System 2 is loaded in the 516ce. The Expression system is known for its ability to capture the guitars dynamic quality in a live setting.
