{Press Release}

Nazareth, PA (Winter NAMM, Booth 5602) – January 11, 2018 – C.F. Martin & Co.® (Martin Guitar) will introduce their reimagined Standard Series guitars at Winter NAMM in Anaheim, California. Collectively, this will be the most significant update to the company’s flagship line of guitars in its 185-year history.

The guitars in Martin’s reimagined Standard Series, from styles 28 to 45, have been the guitars of choice for famous players such as Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, Hank Williams, Joni Mitchell, Kurt Cobain, Beck, Eric Clapton, and countless others. They’ve been woven into the very fabric of our history for generations and across all genres of pop culture, and continue
to inspire musicians worldwide.

“I challenged my coworkers to help me with the significant task of modernizing guitars whose origin go back to the 1930s (and earlier).”, said Chris Martin. “As you might imagine, the discussions were quite animated. Fortunately, we all knew we were working toward a common goal; how can we modernize traditional Martin Guitar models while continuing to honor our rich history and heritage? Well, together we met that challenge head-on and the results far
exceeded my expectations.”

“Changing this many models that are so iconic to the company and music industry all at once was a real challenge” says Fred Greene, Martin’s Senior Director of Product Management, “But our team did an incredible job in choosing appointments and improvements that make these instruments even better.”

The most notable updates to the line include the addition of a modern high-performance neck that is thinner and more comfortable for the player and vintage appointments, including aging toner and open gear tuners. There have been changes to internal features, as well, that include scalloped and forward-shifted top bracing, depending on the style. The bottom line? When you put all of the changes together the result is a Martin Standard Series line that looks, plays, and
sounds better than ever before.

Love the standard line as well as the Reimagined line. I am not a rich man but I own a D45-D37K2-D18GE-Custom Shop Cutaway-00042-OM28RETRO- And I have purchased new 2, D45s-2, D37K2s(lost 1 in a fire)GPCPA1-00028-D18. I have a Love for Martin Guitars like none other. The D18GE I think would be more in line with the Bracing of the new REIMAGINED line. I take it in the write up is that the Reimagined line has the PA Neck or Mod low oval, PA taper? There is no Martin stores in my area, Swice Good Music & Lyons Music where I purchased the majority of my Martins no longer handle them. I am very excited about the 16 series with the 000 body depth which I have not had the opportunity to try. Forward shifted braces adds bass and Taylor and other Models seem to be thriving on the Mid to High sound more so than the deep bass tone. I prefer the standard Bracing of a D45 over the forward shifted bracing of the D42. But of course the 80/20 wound could fix that. I'm on disability counting penny's for my next Martin.

I'm very glad to hear that Martin is making these new guitars. I just recently bought my first 2017 martin d18 with the forward shifted bracing. Until I bought my martin, I never really thought or cared about things like different brands of strings, or things like forward shifted bracing. I am totally loving my new martin. I play traditional gospel and classic country like Hank Williams and Johnny Cash. My new martin is the best sounding guitar I have ever played or owned. Hopefully in the future I can purchase another martin guitar.
