For guitar, I specialize in rock and blues for rhythm and lead guitar, improvising leads, ear-training, and helping students who wish to write their own songs. Cello students follow a classical pedagogical sequence which includes scales, etudes, duets, solo pieces, and music theory. I love music and I love to teach it. I have been playing and teaching guitar for over 20 years. I graduated from the Berklee College of Music, and have a thorough understanding of ear training, theory, scales, chord forms, etc. I play professionally in the Bridger Creek Boys and the Longhorns and occasionally with other Bozeman bands like www.Twang and Cratewasher.

My playing style runs toward Bluegrass, Country, Blues/Jazz, and Rock. My teaching style is to find the direction you want to go and help you over the hurdles using a combination of practical exercises, ear training, and theory (don’t be afraid, a little theory is good for you).

I am happy to teach all ages and playing levels.

Give me a call or email to work out the details.

I am above all a jazz guitarist but am also interested in teaching other styles, including blues, rock, and latin music. I have over 8 years of experience playing guitar. I would say I have an adaptive teaching style and prefer to teach you the theory and techniques that YOU find interesting, rather than making each student learn to play guitar exactly like me. Acoustic or electric, finger-pickers or pick-pickers, as well as complete beginners are all welcome.
