Piano & Keyboards
Gracia Black
Hey!
My name is Gracia, and I just moved to the beautiful city of Bozeman, MT. I am taking this year off to gain residency in Montana so I can go to school next fall at MSU. I have been taking lessons and playing piano for 15 years, and recently decided that teaching would be something I’d LOVE to get into. The Suzuki Method, which focuses on training the ear first, is how I got started, and I believe it is a wonderful way to learn to play the piano. When I teach, I combine both the traditional and Suzuki methods to create my own sort of method. I’ve found that it works very well! I have a couple students already, and am looking for a few more! Since I’m still fairly new, lessons won’t be too spendy, if money is something to be considered. I’d love to teach beginning piano students, preferrably elementary ages!
So, if what you’re looking for is a young, fun, and energetic teacher for your child to learn how to play piano… give me a call!! :)

David Charles, pianist and piano instructor, had his first professional experience as an organist, choir director, and freelance pianist in South Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Music in composition and theory from the University of South Carolina, where he also studied classical and jazz piano. He earned a Master of Music in ethnomusicology from the University of Texas at Austin, where he also played keyboards with the Afro-pop ensemble Easy Motion Tourist and piano at jazz jam sessions around Austin. He has been teaching piano to young people and adults since 1997. He starts beginning students with the basics of note reading and later introduces students to ear training and music theory. Along with classical music, he gives his students various kinds of popular music to play, such as jazz and blues, so that they will have a good feel for a variety of rhythms, not to mention an appreciation for well-established styles of American music. His home studio is conveniently located near Durston Road and 15th Avenue in Bozeman.
