Drummer / Hand Percussionist / vocalist. Always looking for new opportunities. Presently working on solo project as well as a jazzed based project. Past projects have included many singer-songwriter works, tours, probably most notable was the Peter Gabriel(WOMAD) tour and the Neville bros tour/gigs.

Anna McGary

Git

Anna is a twenty year old student who attends the University of Montana in Missoula. She is majoring in pharmacy. The four songs on her eponymous titled CD, “Anna McGary”, were written during this past year and recorded here in Bozeman during sessions at Peak Recording and Sound. Gil Stober engineered the recording sessions. Brian Crumrine played percussion, and Eddie T. plays bass guitar on three of the four tracks.
Today it is fashionable to categorize music which doesn’t fit into pop, R&B, or Rock genres by calling it “alternative”. Anna McGary’s music consists of fresh and well crafted tunes with a memorable voice, delivered with impeccable diction. What a treat to be able to follow the storylines in a song upon first hearing! In “Seven Years”, a young woman finally emerges from the fog of a broken relationship. “Lights” is an uptempo rocker which informs of settling for the love at hand, which seems better than nothing: “But the nights are cold and windy, and it feels so good to be / In your arms when the sun goes down, and in your arms to see… / The morning light…”
The raucous guitar solo presages some red hot live performances to come from this talented young player.
“A Simple Turn” has an insistent guitar line, but the driving bassline is played by Anna herself. A 30 year old country band bass player who hear the track for the first time remarked, “I’ve been playing bass for 15 years and I can’t sound like THAT!”
“Alright” could become a signature tune for this young virtuoso. The song is triadic, with a pair of verses in front of a “Blackbird-like” bridge that takes us to a third verse. The song virtually restarts, and Anna McGary reels in our hearts with an achingly lovely vocal tone. Anna’s sound is musically mature and captures all moods of life. She is anxiously looking forward to completing her first full-length album this winter. Check her out and see show dates at www.myspace.com/annamcgary.
The Anna McGary CD is available at Hastings and Borders for $5.99.

I recently moved to Butte and am looking for people to play “acoustic) music with. Over the past 5 years, I’ve been musical director for two singer/songwriters and have worked on 3 completed CD’s as well as toured the west coast from LA to SF as well as Hawaii. I’ve done the rock and roll thing and am past that phase. I write music (2 songs are currently being evaluated in Nashville for other people to record). Although I live in Butte by choice, I’m willing to travel for the right circumstances. Look forward to hearing from like-minded musicians and would also appreciate some samples.
