Anna is a twenty year old student who attends the University of Montana in Missoula. She is majoring in pharmacy. The four songs on her eponymous titled CD, “Anna McGary”, were written during this past year and recorded here in Bozeman during sessions at Peak Recording and Sound. Gil Stober engineered the recording sessions. Brian Crumrine played percussion, and Eddie T. plays bass guitar on three of the four tracks.
Today it is fashionable to categorize music which doesn’t fit into pop, R&B, or Rock genres by calling it “alternative”. Anna McGary’s music consists of fresh and well crafted tunes with a memorable voice, delivered with impeccable diction. What a treat to be able to follow the storylines in a song upon first hearing! In “Seven Years”, a young woman finally emerges from the fog of a broken relationship. “Lights” is an uptempo rocker which informs of settling for the love at hand, which seems better than nothing: “But the nights are cold and windy, and it feels so good to be / In your arms when the sun goes down, and in your arms to see… / The morning light…”
The raucous guitar solo presages some red hot live performances to come from this talented young player.
“A Simple Turn” has an insistent guitar line, but the driving bassline is played by Anna herself. A 30 year old country band bass player who hear the track for the first time remarked, “I’ve been playing bass for 15 years and I can’t sound like THAT!”
“Alright” could become a signature tune for this young virtuoso. The song is triadic, with a pair of verses in front of a “Blackbird-like” bridge that takes us to a third verse. The song virtually restarts, and Anna McGary reels in our hearts with an achingly lovely vocal tone. Anna’s sound is musically mature and captures all moods of life. I grew up in logging camps in Idaho. I decided at age 16 to become a composer and pursued a degree in music, graduating with a B.S.Ed in 1983. I also have a masters degree in education. While living in the Nashville Tennesse area I spent ten years teaching elementary music, perhaps learning more than I taught. I direct Montana’s Own Guitar Ensemble, a group of seven classical players. I direct the St James Episcopal Renewal Music Team, and have students playing guitar , mandolin, and piano. For the past ten years I have worked as an audio designer for gaming machines, commercials, and as an independant producer.

Influences: Mars Volta, Trail of Dead or any other Texas rock powerful enough to strike an existentialist fear into audiences, the heavier Radiohead tunes, Artic Monkeys, Talking Heads, Sigur Ros, The Roots. But I’m also more than happy to play some jazz, preferably the modal styles of Shorter and Trane—anything with a McCoy Tyner and Elvin Jones backbone—or Mahavishnu, Scofield, avant Miles, and Wes.

Mark Logan- Classical guitarist. Mark began playing guitar at age twelve after seeing a guitar in a music shop window in Venice, Italy. His first exposure to guitar was in folk and rock styles. In 1984 he attended the Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, California. “Abstracts”is his first solo release. Logan currently teaches guitar and is working on his 2nd CD. His major influences on guitar are Andres Segovia, Alex Lifeson and Steve Howe.

Started playing the pots and pans at 11 months. The Piano at 6,drum lessons at 9,and settled on the saxaphone at the age 10.
A native of St.Louis,now residing in Bozeman Montana,Jeffrey started playing in bars at 15,he and the singer/guitarist making trips with gear on bikes.
In the late 70’s Jeffrey was in the famous St.louis band ” Zane Grey” Opening and sharing the bill with many famous national acts.
Picking up what he calls a wind synth(an electronic keyboard you play like a saxaphone) in the 80’s he was hooked,playing this unique machine all over the Bay area during the late 80,s.
For the last 4 years he has been a steady side kick for local favorite The Max.

I have been playing the fiddle since I was five years old, I started playing in MT and ID fiddle contests when I was nine and have been going strong, When i was a kid i learned from bozeman’s own Tom Robinson and then mainly from ear from then on. I am all about music, my family is full of musicians and we have a family band called the toston flatts dance band that plays every once in a while but not too often. I like to play anything including bluegrass, newgrass, celtic, country, old time country, and rock. I’ll try anything.

I am a Montana native with a little flare for the wild side. I have a bachelors in Economics and have been djing ever since. I dj locally and all around the US doing everything from weekly club nights to downtempo to weddings to special events to private parties.

My musical training began at the age of eight in Denver, Colorado where I studied and fell in love with the ACCORDION. After we moved to Montana I began to teach and have taught accordion for 20+ years. I also am director of the “Gallatin Valley Accordion Ensemble.” I perform solo for weddings, festivals, parties, Oktoberfests, etc. as well as entertaining as a group. My genre includes, but not limited to: old time, polka, country/western, sacred, Scandinavian, Italian.
