2018 Gibson Acoustic Rundown - What's New for 2018
CATEGORY: Product News

With the new year right around the corner, we were excited to get a chance to sit down with Don of Gibson Acoustics to talk about some of the great updates coming to the 2018 Gibson Acoustic Guitar collection.

Vintage Hummingbird Throwback

For 2018 Gibson has brought back the vintage "red" color that the Hummingbird is known for. This color is more historically correct and brings the nostalgia back to a model that originated in 1960.

They're Back!

Back this year is the Traditional Dove Acoustic guitar, the Southern Jumbo and the Advanced Jumbo. These awesome guitars will now be available on the standard (non custom shop) lines.

Improvements to the Vintage Line

A few years ago Gibson started manufacturing the Vintage Line with a thermally aged top and this year they are taking it one step further by only finishing them with about half the amount of lacquer of previous Vintage Line guitars. This thin finish makes the guitar more resonant and gives it an amazing tone.

Avant Garde Performance Guitars

The Avant Garde line has the foundation of traditional Gibsons, but to make them more playable live, they offer a thinner body depth and a neck that feels more like an electric. The soul of a traditional Gibson in a high-performance package.

Left Handed Acoustic Guitars

Starting in 2018 Gibson is making left-handed an option for most of their guitars with no additional up-charge.

Limiteds and more

Also for 2018, a handful of new Limited models will be released. Highlighting the limited are Doves, Hummingbirds and J-200's that will be finished in white as well the Regal series, which take the J-45 and the 200's and dress them up with amazing aesthetics.

We are extremely excited about the 2018 Gibson Acoustics and are here to answer any questions you have and help you find your dream guitar. Come visit us in Bozeman, MT or give us a call at  (406) 587-4761
