A Look at the Martin Custom Shop 28 Style Single 0 Cocobolo

A Custom Shop Martin That Will Take Your Breath Away

For years, Music Villa has been a Martin Custom Shop dealer and with our long-standing relationship with Martin, we are able to go the Martin factory to handpick woods and create Custom Martins that we love and are unique custom instruments.

This single 0 acoustic was built from an exquisite piece of Cocobolo (Click to see the Martin Custom Shop Single 0 Cocobo on our site) that we selected during a trip to the Martin factory. Cocobolo is part of the same family as Brazilian Rosewoods along with other Rosewood species. It stands out from its Rosewood relatives due to its unique brown, orange and yellow colors, making it a great choice to create visually stunning instruments.

Aside from the Cocobolo back and sides, this special single 0 Martin has many other high-end appointments such as an Alpine Spruce top, 1930s style multi-color rope binding, herringbone rosette with grained ivoriod binding, Cocobolo headstock veneer and Schaller Grand tuners with butter bean buttons.

A satin finish with aging toner gives this guitar. The satin toner helps the guitar stay open while the aging toner gives that vintage look that appeals to so many players.

Why Choose a Single 0 Acoustic?

The Single 0 acoustic body is a small comfortable body. This body size has been played for years by guitarists looking for a guitar that offers more tone than a parlor but similar comfort. The Single 0 body size was introduced by Martin in 1898 and first saw a 14 fret neck in the mid-1930's.  It is also worth noting, its shorter 24.9" scale length also adds to its playing ease.
