If you are searching for a special acoustic guitar to add to your collection, the Taylor 816ce Florentine may be just what you are looking for.
Taylor is famous for its 800 series guitars. These beautiful instruments feature Indian Rosewood back and sides, a Sitka Spruce top and visual appeal through neck inlays and a stunning rosette. These guitars have a bold tone that players around the world crave.
The 816 takes the 800 series specs and puts them in a Grand Symphony (GS) body shape. The Grand Symphony is slightly larger than a Grand Concert (GC) and is loved by strummers and fingerpickers alike.
The 816CE is also equipped with Taylor's Expression 2 pickup system, offering 3 individual pickup sensors and a professional grade pre-amp to offer you the best in live sound reproduction.
The Florentine Cutaway
On the Grand Symphony 800 series (as well as any Grand Symphony, series 500 and above) Taylor is now offering a Florentine cutaway. This cutaway allows easy access to the higher frets, but also create a striking visual appearance.
"A Florentine cutaway comes to a sharp point, creating a horn-like shape. It is more complex and labor-intensive to craft than the Venetian because the guitar is initially built as a non-cutaway, after which a section of the treble-side upper bout is sliced out. The scooped cutaway is a separate piece of matching wood that is manually bent, fitted and glued into place, with additional trim work required to meet Taylor's high-end aesthetic standards." -Taylor.com
If you have not played a Taylor recently, you owe it to yourself to discover the amazing guitars they are producing. Their recent changes have provided a line of guitars that look and sound stunning, and this 816 is no exception.
