A longtime band leader and key player in numerous popular bands through five decades, Ed now carries on as both a master sideman, and a dynamic solo performer! Passionately performing an eclectic blend of Originals, Pop, Rock, Blues, Country, Jazz, Instrumentals, and Standards, Ed truly keeps audiences engaged and entertained.

Ed played in his first band back in 1968, and in the mid-1970’s, toured professionally throughout the northwest U.S. and western Canada. Over the past five decades, Ed has worked steadily as a guitarist and singer in ensembles as large 16 and as small as one - as a solo artist! Regardless of the size of the band, listeners recognize Ed’s guitar work as extraordinary. His chord and solo work is musically inventive and tasteful. His use of both acoustic and electric guitars, as well as employing phrase looping recording technology to create the sound of an entire band LIVE, provides a springboard for inventive excursions into sonic soundscapes, as well as providing a roadmap for visits to classic tunes from six decades. Ed is also a superb vocalist, singing lead as well as harmony. His interpretations of songs such as Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” reach listeners at a deep and fundamental level.

“When Ed Johnson, walks on stage every musician in the room stops whatever they're doing and begins to listen. Because Ed is a Musician's musician. The real deal. Great guitar, singer, songwriter. Ed does an excellent job every show, and he's easy to work with.” -Tim Borsberry. Drummer/Vocalist – Helena, MT

“I've known and played with Ed since the mid 70's. Always a crucial member and prime mover in any outfit he's been involved in, Ed is a talented, total professional, and his roster of successful bands shows decades of proof!
