Taylor’s Grand Orchestra is the guitar equivalent of a grand piano, boasting a big, complex voice with a wonderfully dynamic response. Our maple/spruce edition features a back bracing profile that’s optimized for maple and a torrefied top, which produces an aged tonal character with greater acoustic resonance. Protein glues and an ultra-thin gloss finish minimize dampening. A new, hand-rubbed “Brown Sugar” stain on the back and sides gives maple’s striking figure a beautiful violin-hued appearance without adding extra thickness to the finish. Featured appointments include grained ivoroid Wings fretboard inlays, an inlaid ebony backstrap, ebony binding with ivoroid purfling, an ebony/ivoroid rosette, and a striped ebony pickguard, along with Taylor’s Expression System® 2 acoustic electronics. The guitar comes with a deluxe hardshell case.
Martin HD-28 MV Custom Special
The MV Custom HD-28 “Special”. We call this one “special” because that’s what it is… not only the select Adirondack top (.105” thickness) forward shifted Golden Era style scalloped braces but also this very special Martin headstock logo. This logo may look familiar, it’s been used for years on the 41,42 & 45 style Martins. We tweaked it a little…. dropped the “CF” and used Ivoroid instead of Abalone or MOP. This guitar has allot of power and presence thanks to the adirondack top and the forward shifted bracing pattern.
The traditional D-16GT acoustic guitar features a 14-fret platform and a Dreadnought body design which incorporates modern guitar specifications with the famous Martin quality and sound. The solid mahogany back and sides complement the Sitka spruce top finished in a polished gloss. The D-16GT delivers true Martin sound and feel. This model includes SUSTAINABLE WOOD CERTIFIED parts.
Martin DSS-2018 NAMM Show Special (2018)
Each year Martin designs a new ground breaking model known as the “show special” to help support the NAMM and Frankfurt trade shows, by making it available only to those in attendance. The theme for 2018 is lightweight wood with a robust sound. The difference can not only be heard, but felt as you cradle and strum this feather weight acoustical innovation. Though large in size, the features that attribute to these tonal and weight benefits are a 2-way adjustable titanium truss rod, carbon fiber and titanium tuning gears, composite carbon fiber/VTS Adirondack bridge plate and head plate, a carbon fiber ultrathin pickguard, and liquid metal pins that are disguised to look like bone. Liquid Metal pins have been proven to increase sustain, harmonics and volume output by several decibels, adding to the allure of this physics experiment. Mahogany and Adirondack spruce were chosen as the tone woods for this slope-shoulder Dreadnought, along with flamed maple binding, for their lightness and rich tones. While the elements of titanium and carbon fiber reduce weight and increase the natural sustain and harmonics of the DSS-2018, the high performance neck with ebony fingerboard is adorned with grained ivoroid snowflake inlay for a touch of adornment.
