The new small-scale GS Mini-e Bass incorporates a proprietary string set* developed by D’Addario, along with a Taylor-patented dual-prong bridge pin that was designed to optimize the string break angle and produce pleasing bass notes with the shorter scale length. The result is an inviting, portable and great-sounding instrument that makes playing acoustic bass more fun and accessible to a broader range of guitar customers.
With its textured sound and a comfortable physical size, the Grand Auditorium 254ce DLX presents an excellent option for players craving a rich 12-string voice in a smaller package than traditional big-bodied 12-string editions. The patented Taylor neck delivers smooth playability, while a solid Sitka spruce top and layered rosewood back and sides project a natural top-end sparkle, midrange warmth and a low end that’s rich without being too boomy. Proprietary Expression System 2 acoustic electronics capture that double-course shimmer without overwhelming the player or the music. Refined with details like white binding, Italian acrylic Small Diamond inlays, and a full-gloss body, the 254ce DLX performs at a high level both sonically and visually. It ships in a deluxe hardshell case.
Taylor’s 500 Series Dreadnoughts boast several uniquely compelling design features, including a slightly shorter 24-7/8-inch scale length and a V-carve neck with a slotted headstock. The result is an inviting handfeel with less string tension — making string bends fun — and matches up well with chord strummers and vocals. The dynamic response of the Lutz spruce top works especially well with the dry, woody sound of mahogany, producing a balanced voice with crisp highs and soft lows. With Taylor’s Performance bracing optimized for the Dreadnought shape and the model’s other features, the 510e makes a musically versatile instrument that blends well with other instruments, either unplugged or amplified with Taylor’s Expression System 2 electronics.
On Taylor’s 12-fret Grand Concert models, the shorter neck meets the body at the 12th fret rather than the 14th, and the bridge position is shifted closer to the center of the lower bout. The result is a boost in tonal warmth and power. That response is also bolstered by the Lutz spruce top used on the 700 Series. Together with rosewood back and sides, players can expect a broad and articulate tonal range. The compact Grand Concert body emphasizes clarity and balance, and helps keep the overtones in check, making this a great option for recording both solo and with other instruments. The 24-7/8-inch neck adds slinky comfort to the playing experience. Wood-rich aesthetic details include Hawaiian koa binding, a herringbone-style rosette featuring Douglas fir with maple/black accents, and bias-cut Douglas fir top trim, while a new “weathered brown” pickguard design complements the earthy color tones of the rosewood and wood trim. Taylor’s onboard ES2 electronics supply a top-notch pickup and preamp for impeccable amplified acoustic tone.
